back to school pictures

I took a personality test and yes, I have one!

It's quite interesting actually, I took a test and I'm sure it's simply that my new job has been top of mind. The results appear that I am well suited for my new job, check it out to the left.

In other news, Britt is thinking that fourth grade is going to great, she likes her teacher and her classmates. Lots of familiar faces again this year. We had a first today. I checked out a few books from the library yesterday that I thought would be of interest to her. She loved them and couldn't put them down. This morning at breakfast I had to get on her. While I was thrilled that she loved her book, she needed to eat and get the day moving forward.

Steve hits the road tomorrow with a team driver. He's nervous but I think that just means he respects the vehicle and the responsibility associated with it.

that's about all the news that's fit to print!

bring on 4th grade, we're ready

Britt starts school on Monday. She is so ready and so excited! She likes her teacher and has lots of her favorite friends in her class this year. It seems like she's off to a good start.

I have ironed out a deal for amazing after school care for her, as well. Since I will be working full time and will not be home until around 5:30 her teacher from last year and close friend of mine, Bryant is going to come over to the house. This is so great because: 1. I completely trust Bryant 2. Britt loves her 3. she will get 1 on 1 care, not 1 of 100 in a huge gym. I am thrilled beyond words with this arrangement.

I better charge up the battery in the camera, back to school pictures coming soon!

Open House

Not at my house, are you crazy?

At Britt's school. We will get to meet her teacher tonight and see her classroom. She will also want to see her old teachers, I'm sure. She's already dressed and ready to roll. We still have a few hours 'til it starts. Think she's a little excited??

more of the same

Not much new to post from Bullhead except it's HOT. Wait, that's not new. Oh, It's only supposed to go up to 99 tomorrow, that would be fantastic. Except it's only gonna be cool because it's supposed to blow 50 mph. Ah well, another day inside.

Steve is beginning to enjoy his new job and it's looking like it will work out. I think I have found someone to be with Britt after school. She's amazing and super trustworthy, next best thing to family. Actually, she feels like family to me. More details to come on that once it is all finalized.

I am just enjoying a quiet night at home. June, you'd be proud of me I fixed tilapia, rice and broccoli for dinner tonight.

Goodnight!

quiet house

I've decided to title my posts since they are dated anyways. Seems less structured this way anyways, don't you think?

Britt has been seizure free for over 2 weeks now. Thank Goodness! She starts school and I am going to have so much more peace putting her on the bus knowing that this is not a daily occurance. I am working on hiring someone to come to the house during the few hours that I wil be at work after school. More details to come.

Steve has been at school for a week and has earned his Driver's Permit by passing the written portion of the CDL test. He's now on to driving the trucks and really enjoyed himself today! He even did some interstate time. Scary to think about someone in training out on the interstate. They are pretty far out of town at least. Maybe that's why so many of the big companies have their training facilities right there kind of in a cluster.

Yesterday he had the day off so he rented a car with his roommate and they went up to Park City. The checked out the Olympic facility and saw someone in training flipping off ski jumps into a pool. Way super cool!

I am getting ready for my new job with the county, I'll be a Public Fiduciary once I pass a written exam and am appointed so by the Superior Court. I am very excited about this learning opportunity, I think it will be a great fit and will allow me to help people while keeping my skills sharp. I have to buy a few new things to wear, I can't dress like I did when I was an aide and we don't dress like we did in Philly out here. Just chinos and tops or casual dresses, Business Casual.

That's a full report for now. If you read this, thanks for checking in on me, we are doing alright! It's just a little quiet around the house without Steve.

We have great news to report!

1. Britt has been seizure free for 5 days!

2. Steve has a great new job! He is going to work for Central Refrigerated and he reports to school on Sunday. He will be driving refrigerated trucks all over the US. He'll be at their school in SLC for 2 weeks then he is off on the road with a trainer. We will really miss the time that we spend with him, but it's a really good job and we are very proud of him!

Today isn't just the anniversary of the moon landing, it's David's birthday! So, happy b-day dear brother, I wish we could be closer. I miss you!

Britt did not have a seizure all weekend! Maybe the new dosing is working. It's only a few days but it feels so great to watch her enjoy a normal day. Thank you, thank you.

Let's go for a threepeat!

Oh my goodness, Britt is still having daily seizures. I am so afraid to leave her alone for a moment. What on earth am I going to do when school starts?? I have been assured that I can bring her to my school, not sure if that is a good choice either, may make me more crazy than ever.

Heaven help me. I know that I can deal with this or it would not be on my plate, but hello???? Some assistance here???

That was supposed to be a prayer, it just didn't come out very respectfully.

Lordy, I am pooped out today! It's hot and I am just worn out. Tonight it's early to bed for me. Today we ran some errands, cleaned up and tonight I am printing a candy order, but first back to Sam's, I'm out of ink, again. Maybe hot dogs at the cafe will sound like a winner to the family today?

It's a hot one today, I had to turn the air down to 80, I was afraid Britt was going to have a seizure. She didn't sleep well last night and when she's sleep deprived, WHAM. They always seem to come mid-afternoon if she the slightest bit out of sorts. So today, I made sure she never got hungry or thirsty and stayed cool.

Oh Lord, help me figure this out for school.

We had a nice 4th, it was fairly quiet, Steve worked from 9-6. After he got home we had supper and went down the road once it was dark to watch the Laughlin fireworks. They were fantastic, just like last year.

Things have been pretty quiet since we moved. Steve started at the lake on the 1st so Britt and I are settling the house.

It looks like life is going to settle down a smidge for us. Steve started his new job out at the lake, and of course he LOVES it. How can you not, I mean seriously? We are moved into the new house and I still have lots of unpacking to do. It is only the 2nd, so I'm not beating myself up!

Brittany

For those of you that are not aware, Britt was diagnosed about a month ago with seizure disorder (commonly called epilepsy). She has been having seizures for about 3 months or so and once she was diagnosed by a pediatric neurologist in Las Vegas she started meds that have worked very well.

She is doing much better, she is limited on her activity choices, that has been one of the most difficult parts.

Please keep her in your prayers, she could use an angel on her shoulder.

2/11/09

We did make that fun day trip on Sunday. First we went to Chloride and had a fantastic lunch at Yesterday's. That place was great, they had 150 varieties of beer including Dogfish Head! Then we made our way north to the western end of Lake Mead, specifically Temple Bar. We then headed west and down, down into Black Canyon to Willow Beach. From there we continued the trail west, over Hoover Dam, through Boulder City, Searchlight and home.

It was a great fun day, we all had such a blast!

2/7/09

It has been raining for almost 24 hours and it's cold! I don't know that it even hit the 60's today. Top that off with the cold one of the little smooches from school shared with me and I'm not fit for much more than the couch.

Things have been busy, busy around the house. I have been working on amping up marketing for Candy Lady. The newest phase is the custom logo minis and kisses for companies. The packaging is so darn cute, who wouldn't want to order them?!

I completed and filed our taxes today. I'm glad that task is complete.

Tomorrow we are taking a ride up to the West end of the Grand Canyon to check out a marina and hotel for a possible boat trip. It's only about an hour by car, it's not possible to get there by boat from here because of Hoover Dam. This marina would put us near the point where the Colorado River exits the Grand Canyon and Lake Mead begins. I'll take the camera, it should be a pretty day. Rainy, but pretty.

January 28, 2009

Wow, it's really been a while since I posted anything!

1. Britt on New Year's Day @ Lake Mohave
2. Christmas morning, Santa was good to Britt!
3. Kathy goofing around out at Cottonwood Marina on Lake Mohave - August '08
4. First day of school - August '08
5. Britt danced at the chili cook-off July '08

Since the last post, not a bunch has changed: same jobs, same school, same house. We did pick up a place out at Lake Mohave, we can keep the boat there and stay there on weekends. It's fun for the whole family!
